Phuket Aquarium

7° 48.2′ N · 98° 24.5′ E

Phuket's original aquarium, opened in 1983 at the tip of Cape Panwa and run by the Phuket Marine Biological Center, which rescues dolphins, dugongs and sea turtles found in distress around the island. Small, a little dated, with a short glass tunnel and turtle pools behind the main building.

Practical

Open daily 8:30am-4:30pm including public holidays. 2026 prices: foreign adults 300 THB, children 150 THB; free for children under 108 cm and visitors over 60 (Phuket 101). Allow about an hour, plus 20 minutes for the turtle pools along the beach path behind the building. Not the same as Aquaria, the large private aquarium in Central Floresta mall.
