Koh Yang Anchorage (James Bond B)

8° 15.9′ N · 98° 29.3′ E

A well-sheltered, south-facing bay at Koh Yang, just southwest of James Bond Island, with a small thatched fishing community where villagers sell coconuts, fish, crab and prawns.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot 'James Bond Anchorage (B)' waypoint 08°15.931N 98°29.318E, about 18 nm from Yacht Haven. 4–5 m, mud, good holding. Approach from the deep channel on an easterly heading, and avoid the shallow bank about 600 m south of the anchorage, often marked by a bamboo stake. Heading north, beware the rock just under the surface at all tides in the Koh Yang / Koh Daeng Yai passage. A small beach restaurant is ashore. A cruising crew in January 2025 found it relatively peaceful, with only two other boats. Ao Phang Nga National Park fee is collected in cash by rangers who come to the boat: Southeast Asia Pilot quotes 400 THB per person per day (undated, verify locally); a cruising yacht in January 2025 paid 300 THB per person on a receipt valid five days.

Best for

Quieter alternative to the James Bond channel, with fresh seafood from the village
