Koh Thalu (Koh Talu) Pierced Islets

8° 18.3′ N · 98° 29.8′ E

A cluster of limestone islets north of Koh Raya Ring whose name means 'pierced island', after the sea caves that run right through them, among mangroves and karst towers.

Practical

Position: OpenStreetMap island Ko Thalu Yai (way 239594038). OSM maps several islets in the group: Thalu Yai, Thalu Noi, Thalu Ok, Thalu Nok and Thalu Nai, plus Ko Thalu Tai off the James Bond anchorage. Tham Lod, the walk-through cave on the south side, is the main reason to come. No Southeast Asia Pilot anchorage here; visit by dinghy or kayak from the James Bond Island anchorage or Koh Panyi. Very shallow around the islets, with mud and sandbanks: keep big boats in the charted channels.
