Koh Panyi Anchorage
8° 20.0′ N · 98° 30.3′ E
Anchor east of the stilt village in the river mouth for an evening walk through Koh Panyi after the day boats leave.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot waypoint 08°20.017N 98°30.284E, about 22 nm from Yacht Haven. 4–9 m east of the village. A light structure on a small rocky islet at the river entrance marks the approach from the south; the course in is straight, so favour the right-hand side for deeper water. Avoid the many floating fish cages. Keep a sharp lookout for speeding tour boats and noisy longtails, which start early, so plan an early departure. A cruising crew in January 2025 came upriver on the rising tide and left on the last of the ebb. Dinghy landings at the village.
Best for
Overnight next to the stilt village; dinner ashore and an early start
