Koh Tapu Limestone Spire
8° 16.5′ N · 98° 30.0′ E · approximate
The 'nail': a 20 m limestone spike that is about 4 m wide at the waterline and 8 m at the top, standing just off Khao Phing Kan. It is the image on every Phang Nga Bay brochure and also appears in Tomorrow Never Dies.
Practical
Position approximate, derived from Wikipedia's description (about 40 m west of the northern part of Khao Phing Kan, whose centre is at 8.2746N 98.5012E) and geotagged Commons photos. Since 1998 boats have been barred from approaching too closely, to slow the tidal erosion at its base. View it from the Khao Phing Kan beach or from a dinghy at a respectful distance; there is no landing.
