Koh Na Khae (Koh Hong group)

8° 14.0′ N · 98° 30.2′ E

The limestone island just north-east of Phang Nga's Koh Hong, whose shallow western bank shapes the approach to the Koh Hong anchorages.

Practical

Position is the centre of the island from OpenStreetMap (way 23492445); the smaller Koh Na Khae Noi lies just north-west (8.2390N 98.5045E). The Southeast Asia Pilot's best Koh Hong anchorage (A, 08°13.518N 98°30.098E) sits between Koh Hong and the shallows west of Koh Na Khae: about 12 m, mud, good holding, usable in both monsoons. Keep well clear of the bank when heading north, pass north of Koh Na Khae or south of Koh Yai when heading east, and use the Koh Yai–Koh Na Khae gap only in a shoal-draft boat. Inside Ao Phang Nga National Park: the Koh Yai ranger may collect the 400 THB per person park fee.
