Goff's Caye

17° 20.9′ N · 88° 2.2′ W

A 1.2-acre postcard sand caye with a few palms on the north side of the main ship channel into Belize City, beside the English Caye pilot station - a day stop for swimming off powder-white sand and snorkelling the reef edge.

Practical

Day stop only (Moorings): exposed anchorage that can work overnight only in calm weather; some captains prefer the shelter of Water Caye nearby (Ventura Yacht Agency). West side off the wooden tender dock has 4-6 ft over fine white sand; corals on the north side, though heavy cruise-passenger traffic has damaged them. A warden on site by day collects a per-person charge (amount not published). Not a marine reserve. Check the Port of Belize cruise-ship schedule and avoid ship days; early morning and evening are quiet. Belizeans visit on weekends and holidays.
