Low Water Harbour Anchorage (Buenavista)

22° 25.2′ N · 75° 49.9′ W

The cold-front hidey-hole of the middle Jumentos, tucked between Buenavista Cay and Low Water Harbour Cay, protected from the west, north and east.

Practical

ActiveCaptain: easy approach from SSW; good holding in sand as draft permits, minimal current out of the main channel; exposed to SSW. MV Privateer (2022-2023): good protection NW through NE, moderate from W and E; reefs limit NE-E swell; mostly 7 ft at low with a 6-ft hump, deeper (8 ft) about 200 ft further in to the SW and W. Their 2023 spot off Low Water Harbour Cay had 7-8 ft, 6 ft within 100 ft of the cay, room for 2-3 boats, more fetch and some swell through the cut. Fills quickly before a front; arrive early. Sharks frequent because fishing boats anchor here. Trail across the south tip of Buenavista starts at a flotsam pile on the beach.
