Hike· Buenavista Cay· Bahamas — Eleuthera, Andros & the Out Islands
Buenavista Cay trails and Edwards ruins
22° 25.9′ N · 75° 49.8′ W · approximate
Trails from the anchorage beach past the ruins of Edwards' house and animal pens to the wild ocean side, plus a short cross-island path to Low Water Harbour.
Practical
Coordinate is the GeoNames island position. The ruins of Edwards' house, where one trail starts, are easy to spot from the anchorage; the trail to the ocean side starts at the treeline behind the animal pens, and you can walk either way along the ocean shore. A short trail across the island from the south end of the bay starts at a debris pile and ends overlooking Low Water Harbour (ActiveCaptain, 2023, with cruiser-drawn maps by Donna Prucnal). Wear proper shoes and carry water.
Best for
A morning walk and a look at the island's farming past
