Raccoon Cay House Bay Anchorage

22° 21.4′ N · 75° 48.8′ W · approximate

A long, sandy west-side bay on Raccoon Cay, sheltered from the easterlies, with a shallow family-friendly beach and cruiser-marked trails over the hill.

Practical

Coordinate approx: this is the ActiveCaptain 'Raccoon Cay' anchorage marker on the bank side, which we take to be in House Bay; noforeignland does not publish its House Bay position. Approach visually from the bank side. noforeignland (4.8): excellent holding in sand, comfortable in strong easterlies, shallow beach. ActiveCaptain: good shelter in E winds, a choice of spots up and down the cay, nice beaches and plenty of sea life, and good cell signal from Duncan Town; a good departure point for Cuba. MV Privateer anchored at the north end and left when the wind shifted and wrap-around swell arrived. Pimlico Cay at the south end of House Bay gives options to escape a north or south swell: tuck in close on its north side; its south side has shallow rocky bottom extending out. Hiking maps of Raccoon Cay are attached to the ActiveCaptain reviews.

Best for
