Johnson Cay Anchorage
22° 20.3′ N · 75° 46.8′ W
A U-shaped cay with sand beaches all round, open only to the north; one of the prettiest anchorages in the Raggeds in the right wind.
Practical
ActiveCaptain: approach from the north, minding the rocks that extend north from the western side of the cay. Excellent protection from E, S and W; good holding close to the beach but watch the reef on the western side of the anchorage. Surge if an easterly swell is running; NOT safe in northerly winds. Depths found 5 ft or more deeper than Explorer/Blue charts (2018), and the low cay lets wind carry over though it is calm close in. noforeignland (4.1): easy dinghy access with deep water near shore, but swell can intrude in moderate winds. Ocean-side beach walk. Johnson Spit (GeoNames 22.35, -75.7725) lies to the north-east.
Best for
Easy beach access in E to S winds
Season
