Koh Rawi West Beaches Anchorage (Moorings guide)

6° 32.3′ N · 99° 10.3′ E

A small sand patch close in off the beaches at Koh Rawi's south-west corner, the Moorings guide's Rawi anchorage, with a path through the trees to a second beach on the north side.

Practical

Moorings Siam cruising guide (Ko Rawi, 006°32.27N 099°10.26E): in the NE season only, anchor on the small sandy spot on the west side of the beaches near the reef in 4-6 m, only about 50 m from shore; or anchor or pick up a mooring south of the reef in no less than 15 m. Very strong current, so take care swimming or snorkelling. Follow the path north through the trees to another beach. Ranger station ashore but no restaurants. In the SW season the guide recommends crossing to the east side of Koh Butang (see Koh Butang East Anchorage). The published position is plotted as given and checked to fall in the water. The Moorings guide is undated, states its GPS positions are on the Indian 1975 datum (not WGS84) and says to anchor only on sand: it quotes fines of US$1,000 to US$15,000 for anchoring on coral (verify locally). See also Koh Rawi Southwest Anchorage (Southeast Asia Pilot) about 2 km east. Park fee and the Adang–Rawi seasonal closure apply (see those entries).
