Koh Butang North Anchorage

6° 32.4′ N · 99° 9.8′ E

The overnight spot of the outer Butang islands: a sand patch west of the small islets off Butang's north side, with room to swing clear of the reef, wild monkeys on the beach and the group's best fishing and snorkelling.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot (6°32.409N 99°9.770E): anchor west of the small islands in 8-12 m with room to swing clear of the fringing reef; if NE ground swell wraps around the south of Koh Rawi, move east of the islets in 20 m. Wild monkeys on the beach (Wikivoyage's Lipe page calls one bay Monkey Bay). The bottom drops past 25 m around the southern islands, so approach with caution. OpenStreetMap names the main island Ko Dong (alt. Butong). Park rules apply.
