Curieuse reef snorkel (Anse José and Coral Gardens)
4° 17.6′ S · 55° 43.3′ E · approximate
The marine park's fringing reefs, seagrass and granite boulders hold parrotfish, hawksbill turtles foraging the shallow reef, green turtles on the seagrass and occasional spinner dolphins; SPGA singles out its Coral Gardens and Pointe Rouge.
Practical
Snorkel from the boat or the beach off Anse José and around the granite headlands; SPGA calls Pointe Rouge the best dive site in the park (exact position not published — ask the rangers). Nothing may be taken: no fishing, spearguns or shell and coral collecting anywhere in the park. Stay clear of boat lanes in the channel. Coordinate approx: reef edge off Anse José from the park signboard map.
