Curieuse beach barbecue spot
4° 17.5′ S · 55° 43.2′ E · approximate
The park rents barbecue grills to visitors, and the Creole beach-BBQ lunch is the standard Curieuse day-trip ritual — grilled fish under the takamakas between the tortoises and the walk.
Practical
SPGA: 'BBQ grills available to visitors for a fee'; Moorings lists 'barbecue on the beach'. Bring your own food, charcoal and drinks — there is no shop or restaurant on the island (a visitor centre with a small restaurant was announced in 2019, but its status isn't confirmed — verify locally). Take all rubbish back aboard. Coordinate approx: Anse José shore; SPGA does not publish which beach the grills are on — ask the rangers at Baie Laraie.
Best for
A self-catered beach barbecue lunch
