Volcán Coronado Hike (Isla Smith)
29° 5.4′ N · 113° 30.9′ W
A scramble up the 474-m (1,554-ft) stratovolcano that forms the north end of Isla Coronado, with views across the whole archipelago and the Canal de Ballenas.
Practical
Coordinate is the summit (OpenStreetMap natural=volcano). Access from the pebble beaches near the Mitlán anchorage — a steep, loose trail/scramble. Speckled rattlesnakes live on the island: closed shoes, go at dawn, carry plenty of water. The island is a protected area — stay on existing paths.
Best for
A summit view over the Bahía de los Ángeles islands
