Isla Calavera Sea Lion Colony (Bahía de los Ángeles)
29° 1.7′ N · 113° 29.9′ W
Skull Island — a small rock off Isla Coronado holding one of Bahía de los Ángeles' two California sea lion colonies, the classic place in the bay to get in the water with sea lions.
Practical
Island position from the Wikipedia islands table (29.0276667, -113.49875). The island sits inside the Bahía de los Ángeles biosphere reserve, which protects California sea lions; keep a respectful distance from the haul-out, do not land, and let the animals approach you. No anchorage is described at the rock — visit by dinghy or panga from the La Ventana, Pata y Bota or Mitlán anchorages in calm weather. Strong currents run among the bay islands; plan around slack water.
