Isla San Esteban Endemic Wildlife
28° 42.1′ N · 112° 34.7′ W
A rugged 40-km² midriff island once home to a band of the Seri people, now known for giant endemic chuckwallas and spiny-tailed iguanas found almost nowhere else.
Practical
Coordinate is the island centroid (OpenStreetMap relation); Wikipedia gives 28°41'51"N 112°34'39"W. Part of the Gulf of California islands protected area — going ashore on most Gulf islands requires a CONANP permit. No anchorage details in the sources; approach only in settled weather and expect strong currents between San Esteban and Tiburón. The Log's Midriff route anchors off either side of the island's SW sandspit (see Isla San Esteban Southwest Sandspit Anchorage).
