Isla Monserrat South-West Anchorage

25° 39.1′ N · 111° 2.6′ W

A boulder-strewn sand patch off Isla Monserrate's south-west end—the island's northerly-weather anchorage, with good snorkeling among the big rocks.

Practical

Coordinate is the anchored position (25°39.108'N, 111°02.603'W) logged by the yacht BlueJacket in June 2012—16 ft over sand—checked in-water against the OpenStreetMap coastline (it lies about 700 m off the mapped shore, so sound in). The area is rocky with many shallow rocks and reefs; BlueJacket abandoned a first spot nearby because of swell and moved here, then left next morning when the wind went south-east. Unusable in a large south-east swell (BlueJacket). Good snorkeling along the boulders of both south-west spots. CONANP protected-area fee applies: a Loreto Bay National Park day pass (bracelet) was MX$215 per person in 2025, and the annual Conservation Passport (MX$3,620 in 2025) covers every federal protected area; buy online at descubreanp.conanp.gob.mx or from the rangers at La Dársena in Loreto, and carry proof aboard.
