Isla Monserrat North Rocks Dive

25° 45.7′ N · 111° 2.9′ W

Exposed rocks north of Isla Monserrate, toward Islas Galeras, where the current runs and the fish are thicker than on the island's own reefs.

Practical

Coordinate is the exposed-rock position (25°45.698'N, 111°02.858'W) given by the yacht BlueJacket's 2012 dive log. BlueJacket found the island's own north-end reefs and the north end of Isla Galeras shallow and dull, these rocks more interesting, and a rock ledge about 1.5 miles further north (position not given) the best dive, with big schools of fish and a guitarfish. Expect a strong current at the start; confused swell and whitecaps can stop the dinghy run—go in calm weather and leave a tender aboard. CONANP protected-area fee applies: a Loreto Bay National Park day pass (bracelet) was MX$215 per person in 2025, and the annual Conservation Passport (MX$3,620 in 2025) covers every federal protected area; buy online at descubreanp.conanp.gob.mx or from the rangers at La Dársena in Loreto, and carry proof aboard.
