Agua Verde Petroglyph Cave Hike

25° 31.5′ N · 111° 4.7′ W · approximate

A walk from the north anchorage up into the hills, through a small oasis, to an elevated cave decorated with red Pre-Columbian paintings.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: the start area behind the north anchorage; the cave's position is deliberately not published. Ask in the village or follow a cruiser who knows it (the 2024 Baja Rally's hike leader did). Club Cruceros mentions 'secret hot springs' nearby that locals will tell you about but writers will not. Go early with water and sun protection; do not touch the paintings.

Best for

Rock art and an oasis on foot
