Garitsa Bay Anchorage
39° 37.3′ N · 19° 55.7′ E
The town anchorage south of the Old Fortress, with the citadel walls on one side and the Garitsa waterfront on the other — the cheapest way to stay in Corfu Town and the usual base for crews clearing in at the port.
Practical
Coordinate from mySea (northern part of the bay under the fortress). Depths 3–10 m, mud, good holding (mySea); the southern part shoals to 1–2 m (second mySea point at 39.61123, 19.92705). Open to the east and south-east; in summer NW wind it is calm. Dinghy ashore to the NAOK area or the Garitsa waterfront for the Spianada. Crews clearing in walked a couple of km to the port offices from here (Noonsite comment, 2021). Garitsa Bay is also one of the venues for the Varkarola night festival in August (Greeka).
Best for
Free town anchoring under the Old Fortress
Season
May–Oct; avoid in strong E–SE winds
