Corfu Easter Pot-Throwing (Botides)

39° 37.4′ N · 19° 55.4′ E · approximate

On Holy Saturday morning, at the signal of the 'First Resurrection', Corfiots hurl clay pots full of water from their balconies along the Liston and old-town streets, smashing them on the pavement to drive away misfortune while the philharmonic bands play — Greece's most spectacular Easter.

Practical

Coordinate approx: the Liston arcade, from the OSM/Wikipedia position of the Spianada. The pot-throwing starts at 11 am on Holy Saturday (Wikipedia, Liston). On Good Friday the Epitaphios processions of all the churches gather on the Spianada with bands and choirs (Greeka). Orthodox Easter dates move each year — check the calendar. Berths at Mandraki and NAOK and space in Garitsa Bay fill up; book or arrive early.
