Corfu Old Town & Mandraki (Corfu)

39° 37.5′ N · 19° 55.7′ E

Mandraki is the little yacht harbour tucked inside the walls of the Old Fortress, with the UNESCO-listed Old Town, the Liston arcades and the Spianada a five-minute walk across the moat bridge. Few city berths anywhere in Greece beat lying stern-to under Venetian ramparts with the Corfu Music School practising above you.

Practical

Coordinate is the Mandraki basin (mySea). Depths 1.6–4 m; stern-to on laid moorings; few visitor berths, so call ahead: tel 6945 377674, VHF 68 (SailingIssues). It is the best shelter in town against the prevailing summer NW wind (SailingIssues), but the outer mole is only about 1 m high and likely exposed in northerlies; on the outer mole go bows-to and stay about 3 m off because of rocks (Noonsite comment, 2017). Reported 25 EUR/night for a 12 m catamaran with water and electricity and fuel available (Noonsite, 2017 — verify locally). Access on foot is through the fortress and over the bridge across the moat (Moorings). The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site of Venetian, French and British buildings; walk to the Spianada, Liston and the Church of Saint Spyridon. Provisions: Masoutis supermarket on Theotoki street and the municipal market by the New Fortress (see provisioning entry).
