Tearavero Village Beach (Kauehi)
15° 49.2′ S · 145° 6.7′ W
A strip of lagoon-side sand just north of the Tearavero wharf. It is the dinghy beach on ship days and a shady swim spot under the palms.
Practical
Coordinate is the beach polygon mapped in OpenStreetMap about 400 m north of the wharf. Further strips of beach line the lagoon shore south of the church toward Pension Hei O Kauehi. Yolo (2011): 'On Fridays you will have to pull your dinghy onto the sand beach north of the wharf because the supply ship shuttle uses the wharf for most of the day.' In 2022 a visitor found villagers gathering in the palm shade at the water's edge, and the water warm but 'a little too cloudy for snorkelling'. Watch for pearl-spat lines and buoys just offshore. Go ashore in reef shoes, since the shallows have coral rubble.
Best for
