Tearavero Wharf (Dinghy Landing, Water, Trash)

15° 49.4′ S · 145° 6.7′ W · approximate

The 200 m concrete wharf just west of the church, where dinghies land and the supply ships' barges unload.

Practical

Coordinate approximate: estimated from Yolo's description (wharf just west of the church) and OpenStreetMap village positions. Tie up at the end of the wharf. On supply-ship days the barge uses the wharf most of the day, so pull the dinghy onto the sand beach north of it (Yolo, Fridays in 2011). The 2019 government sheet lists the Tearavero landing as 5 m of berthing with 1 m depth (dinghies and barges only). Water: in 2011 the village let cruisers use fresh water from a large black container at the copra warehouse. In 2019 the commune had a public fountain using prepaid cards. Rainwater only, so treat it and ask before filling jerry cans. Supply ships in 2019: Mareva Nui, SXMS 4 and Cobia 3. The Aranui 5 also stops here and lands passengers by barge.
