Tearavero Church (Kauehi)
15° 49.4′ S · 145° 6.6′ W
Église Saint-Marc, built more than a century ago from coral blocks. Its interior is hung with shell chandeliers, and its tall front is the landmark you steer for across the lagoon.
Practical
Coordinate from OpenStreetMap. Visitors in 2022 described coral-brick construction over 100 years old and shell chandeliers probably made on the island. Sunday service at 8 am (Jacaranda 2019). Cover shoulders and knees, and join the singing if you go. The 200 m concrete wharf lies just west of the church. The mairie is about 70 m north and the post office next to it. Note the 2018 theft from a yacht during Sunday mass (Noonsite): lock the boat. A painted mural near the village shows local flora, fauna and a sooty-tern colony.
Best for
Sunday mass with island singing
