Magasin Yip (Kauehi)
15° 49.5′ S · 145° 6.6′ W · approximate
The most useful store for cruisers in Tearavero: run by Fanny and Anselme, with cooking gas, gasoline, frozen baguettes and Fanny's shell-and-coconut-fibre necklaces.
Practical
Location approximate: Jacaranda (April 2019) puts it about 50 m past Magasin Anna along the main street, so the point is set about 50 m south of the store mapped as Anna. Sells French butane bottles. A tree next door was used to rig a bottle upside down to decant into a US propane tank (Jacaranda 2019). Limited gasoline. Frozen plastic-wrapped baguettes are good, and fresh baguettes flown in from Tahiti arrive on Wednesday mornings; get there by 11 am (2019). In 2011 the Saturday and Monday planes brought baguettes at 130 XPF each (verify locally). Ask Fanny to see her handmade necklaces, which sell fast in Papeete. Mamie, who sells fresh vegetables, lives next door (2023).
