Lynyard Cay Beach Picnic Area
26° 21.4′ N · 76° 59.1′ W · approximate
Lynyard's lee shore is a string of secluded white-sand beaches with picnic tables, and short paths lead across the narrow cay to the wild Atlantic side for sea glass and beachcombing.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate: placed on Lynyard Cay's west shoreline (OpenStreetMap coastline) just east of the ActiveCaptain Lynyard Cay anchorage marker; tables and landing spots move after storms. The cay is privately owned but its beaches are used by cruisers; respect the few homes and leave no trash (none collected here). Atlantic side is ironshore and coral rock with little sand, but sea glass collects along the tide line; a short rocky trail links the two shores. ActiveCaptain community reports date from 2011-2019, before Hurricane Dorian (Category 5, Sept 1, 2019) hit Abaco; re-check bottom, markers and businesses locally.
