Johnston Bronze Foundry and Gallery
26° 19.6′ N · 76° 59.8′ W · approximate
Sculptor and professor Randolph W. Johnston settled this remote cove with his wife Margot in 1951; three generations later it is the only working bronze foundry in the Bahamas, casting one-of-a-kind pieces held in collections including the Vatican.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate: placed beside Pete's Pub (the foundry and gallery are a few steps away). A 2018 cruiser reported foundry tours Monday-Friday at 1:30 pm - verify locally; pours (about 2000 deg) are the thing to catch. The gallery is next to the pub. Unpaved road access; easiest by boat.
Best for
Watching a bronze pour and buying a piece of Abaco art
