Bight of Old Robinson Blue Holes

26° 20.7′ N · 77° 1.8′ W

Inside the shallow Bight of Old Robinson west of Little Harbour, dark ocean blue holes less than 100 ft across drop away in a foot of water - hover over an apparently bottomless shaft with turtles streaming past.

Practical

Dinghy only, from Little Harbour or Lynyard; enter through the channels north of the mark (entrance waypoint 26.3507, -77.0272) only on a rising or high tide with the outboard tilted - as little as 18 in reported, with a rapid over the rocks on the ebb. Tides here run up to 2 hours earlier than North Bar Channel predictions; cruisers have nearly been stranded. A shore memorial with a bronze plaque marks three divers who died in the caves in 1994 - snorkel and free-dive only; never enter the caves. At least five holes in the area; look for dark water. Part of East Abaco Creeks National Park. ActiveCaptain community reports date from 2011-2019, before Hurricane Dorian (Category 5, Sept 1, 2019) hit Abaco; re-check bottom, markers and businesses locally.
