Cherokee and Little Harbour Bonefishing Flats

26° 17.4′ N · 77° 3.6′ W · approximate

The mangrove-fringed flats of Cherokee Sound, the Bight of Old Robinson and Snake Cay creek are prime bonefish water - the same nursery habitat protected since 2015 in East Abaco Creeks National Park.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: a representative point on the flats inside Cherokee Sound west of the settlement (in water per OpenStreetMap coastline). Fishing as regulated by current Bahamian law is allowed in the park; a Bahamas fishing permit is required on visiting yachts (30-day permit $100 up to 50 ft, $300 over 50 ft per bahamas.com). Bonefishing is catch-and-release by convention. Wade or pole on a rising tide; local guides work out of Cherokee, Marsh Harbour and the Sandy Point bonefish lodges.
