Ship Channel Cay Shark & Stingray Encounter
24° 49.0′ N · 76° 49.7′ W · approximate
Shallow turquoise bays on the bank side of Ship Channel Cay where southern stingrays glide right up to your knees and nurse and reef sharks patrol just off the sand bar. It is the northern Exumas' answer to Compass Cay, minus the six-hour run south.
Practical
This is an operator-run site (Powerboat Adventures and other Nassau day-trip boats hold the concession) and is busiest 10:00-16:00. Independent cruisers can dinghy the flats but should not expect facilities or feeding privileges. Shuffle your feet on the sand; do not hand-feed rays. Note this is OUTSIDE the Land & Sea Park, so no park fees apply.
Best for
Guaranteed ray and shark sightings in shin-deep water
