Ship Channel Cay Anchorage
24° 49.0′ N · 76° 49.7′ W
The northernmost practical stop in the Exuma chain, a long low cay on the bank side with sand patches to drop into and Ship Channel itself just north as the main deep-water gateway from Nassau. Day-tripper powerboats from Nassau roar in mid-morning and are gone by 16:00, leaving the anchorage to you.
Practical
Bank-side anchorage in roughly 8-12 ft over sand; open to the west, so it's a settled-easterly or overnight-only spot. Ship Channel is the standard deep-water entrance from Nassau (~35 nm) but sets up a nasty chop on a wind-against-tide ebb. Private island with development; land only on the beach below the high-water mark. No services, no fuel, no water.
Best for
First or last night between Nassau and the Exumas
