Dive· Exuma Cays
Dog Rocks / The Cathedral
24° 50.7′ N · 76° 48.9′ W · approximate
A wall dive off the northern tip of Ship Channel Cay where the reef shelves from 35 ft and then falls away into Exuma Sound, with a genuine cavern called The Cathedral at about 40 ft that fills with silversides in summer. Sharks, eagle rays and Atlantic spadefish work the drop-off.
Practical
35-50 ft on the shelf, deep-water drop beyond. Slack water only - the current through Ship Channel is serious. Boat dive; no moorings, so a live boat or a very careful hook in sand is required. Best visibility 70-100 ft year round. Outside park boundaries.
Best for
Wall and cavern diving with big-animal chances
