Koh Yippon Swim-through (Ang Thong)

9° 48.0′ N · 99° 42.8′ E

Shallow reefs around Koh Yippon Noi and Koh Yippon Yai in Ang Thong's far north, with a swim-through that runs right through one of the islands.

Practical

PADI dive-site listing (position 9.79960, 99.71370; max depth 16 m; boat entry): shallow reefs suitable for snorkellers and beginners; marine life includes boxfish, lionfish, parrotfish, angelfish, blacktip reef sharks, turtles, bluespotted stingrays and cuttlefish. The PADI position coincides with a small islet in OSM (Ko Lan, way 491454910), so it marks the site, not an anchorage. PADI says operators run the trip only when conditions suit. Visibility in Ang Thong is often limited by river sediment; thainationalparks.com gives the diving season as February to October, clearest in March-April. No anchorage is described here: dive from the tender with someone aboard the yacht, or join a Samui dive boat.
