Koh Thai Phlao Sea Caves and Kayaking

9° 41.9′ N · 99° 40.6′ E · approximate

Koh Thai Phlao (Tai Plao), in the park's remote north, has caves, overhangs and channels you can paddle under the rock, and is a regular first stop for Samui kayak tours.

Practical

Island Spirit guide (2023): explore by SUP or kayak, paddling under the rock islands or in the shade of the overhangs; a hong on the east side of the northern island can be entered at mid tide; sea urchins are everywhere. Tour listings (Blue Stars Kayaking via Magpie) put Koh Tai Plao first on the itinerary, before Koh Mae Ko and Koh Wua Ta Lap. Position is approximate, inside the Koh Nai Phut / Thai Phlao cluster (OSM way 24056770); Thai Phlao is not mapped by name. Anchor the mother ship per 'Koh Thai Phlao and Koh Nai Phut Anchorage'. Kayak rental is also available at park HQ (Wikivoyage listed 200 THB per person; undated, verify locally).
