Koh Sam Sao Stone Bridge Anchorage

9° 39.9′ N · 99° 40.9′ E · approximate

A day anchorage at the northwest corner of Koh Sam Sao, the Tripod Island, beside its natural stone bridge: a rock arch big enough to take the dinghy under, with a short trail to a viewpoint and a sand-bar-linked pair of islets opposite.

Practical

Island Spirit charter guide (2023): anchor midway between Koh Hin Tack and the NW corner of Koh Sam Sao in 7 m; the water off the beach is fairly clear and worth a snorkel; across from the stone bridge two small islets joined (usually) by a sand bar give good snorkelling and a private beach. Position is derived: between the unnamed OSM islet at 9.6652, 99.6803 (likely Hin Tack, not confirmed) and Sam Sao's north shore (OSM way 23977529), not a surveyed position. The archipelago is poorly charted: daylight only, bow lookout for coral heads. Park rules apply (fee paid at HQ); no anchoring on coral.

Best for

Snorkelling and dinghying under the stone arch
