Koh Wai Northeast Anchorage (Paradise Resort)
11° 54.2′ N · 102° 24.5′ E
A clear-water bay off Koh Wai Paradise Resort's pier on the island's northeast side, with reef right off the beach. It is a lunch stop in the northeast season and an overnight in the southwest.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot waypoint 11°54.207N 102°24.494E, 18 nm from Khlong Son. Anchor in 8–10 m off Paradise Resort. Good protection in the SW season and a good lunch stop in the NE season. It is busy with day-trippers at peak times; most leave by late afternoon. Full-day snorkel boats from Bang Bao make Koh Wai their last stop before returning about 5pm. Koh Wai is outside the national park, so there is no park fee. Snorkelling right off the beach and pier (see Koh Wai Reef). A 20-minute jungle path links to the south bay; bring a torch.
Best for
Reef snorkelling off the beach, then a quiet evening once the tour boats leave
Season
Overnight in SW monsoon; lunch stop in NE monsoon
