'Sea Fan Heaven' to Loreto divers: off Coronado's north end a steep drop-off begins at 60 ft, with purple gorgonians, black coral, rock scallops, triggerfish, angelfish, bumphead parrotfish and seasonal tuna and yellowtail.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: off the north end of Isla Coronado, about 340 m from the OpenStreetMap coastline; no surveyed position published. Usually done as a drift dive—current can pick up quickly (California Diving News). Undercurrent's divers found dozens of fan corals, grunts, barberfish, blue-and-gold snappers and moray eels. Not an anchorage: dive from a tended boat. The north side of Coronado is also where sea lions rest on the lava rocks (Loreto.com). CONANP protected-area fee applies: a Loreto Bay National Park day pass (bracelet) was MX$215 per person in 2025, and the annual Conservation Passport (MX$3,620 in 2025) covers every federal protected area; buy online at descubreanp.conanp.gob.mx or from the rangers at La Dársena in Loreto, and carry proof aboard.
