Pink Sand Beach (Barbuda)
17° 35.3′ N · 61° 51.0′ W
The south-west coast beach between River and Palmetto Point, where tiny pink shells give the sand its rosy glow when the waves have piled them up. Its 8 miles of shoreline get very few visitors.
Practical
Coordinate verified: OpenStreetMap beach polygon (way 582475957) on the coast between River and Palmetto Point. The Antigua & Barbuda Marine Guide places Pink Sand Beach between Spanish Point and Palmetto Point and notes that the pink is not always visible. Pink sand appears seasonally in several places around Barbuda, including the south end of Low Bay, so ask locally where it is best that month. Anchoring off is good but affected by any east or south swell. Codrington is the only place for services, so stock up before you go. Do not take sand: it is part of the protected coastline, and sand mining has been a major local issue.
