Andes Wreck (Deep Bay)

17° 7.6′ N · 61° 53.4′ W

The steel three-masted barque Andes, which sank in Deep Bay in 1905, lies in shallow water at the bay mouth, covered in coral and fish: an easy, rewarding snorkel from the anchorage.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap wreck node (non-dangerous). AMG: the wreck lies due south of Shipstern Point as you enter Deep Bay; she sailed from Trinidad on June 5, 1905. Protected under the Marine Areas Act of 1972 and part of Fort Barrington National Park (declared 2009): take nothing. Dinghy over and tie off clear of the wreck; avoid in swell.
