Othonoi Ammos Harbour

Ammos is the main village bay of Othonoi, Greece's westernmost inhabited island — tavernas on the beach, the ferry quay and port police, and beyond them hiking trails to every settlement and pristine coves reachable only by boat.
Practical
Coordinate from mySea (anchorage about 2 m, sand with weed patches, good holding). Anchor in about 3 m away from the ferry quay; good holding but open to the southerlies; a tripline is a good idea (SailingIssues). When the ferry is not due you can go bows-to part of the quay, but the bottom comes up quickly off parts of it (mySea quay, 39.84046, 19.40456). Approach from the south-west and mind the Aspri Petra reef south of Ammos bay (SailingIssues). Port Police office ashore (OSM 39.84221, 19.40416). The island is 12 nm WNW of Cape Drastis on Corfu (Noonsite) and 47 nm from Santa Maria di Leuca, Italy (Wikipedia). Legend places Calypso's cave on Othonoi (Noonsite).
Best for
Remote island village and hiking base
Season
May–Sep; exposed to southerlies
