Katergo Rock & North Paxos Reefs

39° 13.1′ N · 20° 7.7′ E

A cluster of deep sites off the NW tip of Paxos. At the islet of Katergo the bottom drops to about 30 m with big dentex, grouper and amberjack. Off Cape Lakka, Exolitharo rock and Aqua Reef reach 25-40 m and hold parrotfish, barracuda and bream.

Practical

From Paxos Map: Katergo 30 m; Plakes (39.22239N 20.12352E) starts at 5 m among big boulders and drops beyond 60 m, with groupers; Exolitharo (39.24129N 20.12236E) has a seabed at 25-30 m; Aqua Reef (39.24334N 20.12562E) reaches 40 m. Open to the NW breeze, so dive in the morning. These are handy from a Lakka anchorage by dinghy only in a flat calm; use a dive operator otherwise.
