Erimitis Cliffs Sunset

39° 12.5′ N · 20° 8.6′ E

Sheer white cliffs on the central west coast above Erimitis, a pebble beach created by a landslide in 2008. Its sulphurous blue water glows below the clifftop, which is a favourite Paxos sunset spot.

Practical

Coordinate is Erimitis beach (OSM; the 2008 landslide is mapped at 39.20924N 20.14311E). Paxos Map says the beach is reached on foot only, so this is a shore excursion from Gaios or Lakka by taxi or scooter to the clifftop near Magazia. The cliffs are unstable: keep back from the edge and do not sit under the slide. A quieter alternative is the cliffs of Mousmouli, 45 m high, south of Gaios: a path from Mousmouli leads to one of the island's best sunset points (Paxos Map, 39.18274N 20.17816E).
