Corfu Sailing Season & Winds

39° 38.4′ N · 19° 57.0′ E · approximate

Corfu is the gentle end of Greek sailing: no meltemi, an afternoon sea breeze through summer, and warm, settled weather from May to September. The weather to watch is the southerly that comes through in spring and autumn, which turns the west-coast coves into the wrong side of the island.

Practical

Coordinate approx: a representative point in the channel east of Vido. May–September is warm and sunny; August is hottest; about 1,000 mm of rain a year falls mostly in autumn and winter; April–June is best for hiking (Greeka). In a southerly, sleep on the north-east coast (Kassiopi, Agni) or behind the islands at Gaios; Erikoussa is a settled-weather trip only (George Yachts). A strong WSW hugs the coast and becomes WNW–NW off Kassiopi (SailingIssues). The north-east channel is calmest in the morning, before the afternoon breeze ruffles it (SeaDreamers). The sea stays warm through September and October (SeaDreamers).
