Paradise Beach Anchorage (Kefalos Bay, Kos)

36° 45.5′ N · 27° 0.6′ E · approximate

A daytime anchorage off Paradise Beach, the best known of the sandy beaches strung along Kefalos Bay (Camel, Paradise, Polemi), with shallow, clear water and the Kefalos ridge behind.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: placed about 300 m south-east of the middle of the Paradise Beach outline in OpenStreetMap (way 236078510), in the open bay. No cruising guide used here gives depths or holding for this exact spot, so approach slowly, sound in and look for sand; keep well outside any swimming-zone buoys (mySea notes water-ski and jet-ski traffic by day in neighbouring Kamari Bay). The coast here faces south-east: tucked under the land in the usual northerly meltemi (expect gusts), but fully exposed to anything from the south and east, and swell wraps in. Kamari Bay, about 2 nm south-west, is the overnight option with the small port, water at the mole and better-documented holding (sand and weed, good to very good per mySea). Camel Beach is the small cove about 700 m west (OSM way 236078505); Polemi Beach is about 1 km east (OSM way 168674367).
