Marokau Atoll (unverified passes)
18° 4.0′ S · 142° 16.0′ W
A long, shallow-lagoon atoll south of Hikueru with about 90 people, mainly in Vaiori on the north rim. It is off the cruising track and has no airstrip.
Practical
Coordinates are the atoll center (English Wikipedia, 18°04'S / 142°16'W). French Wikipedia says the lagoon is reached by two passes, one east and one north near Vaiori, but no cruising guide or cruiser report in the sources consulted describes them, their depth or an anchorage, and the Soggy Paws compendium does not cover Marokau. Treat it as not yacht-accessible unless you have current local knowledge and can scout by dinghy in settled weather. Marokau lies 2 km from Ravahere across a channel; both are low and hard to see at night. Part of Hikueru commune; about 3 hours by boat from Hikueru.
