Tekokota Atoll (no pass)
17° 19.0′ S · 142° 37.0′ W
A tiny uninhabited atoll 22 km north of Hikueru, named 'Doubtful' by Cook in 1773 and 'The Dangerous One' by the Spanish. It is closed to yachts.
Practical
Coordinates from French and English Wikipedia (17°19'S / 142°37'W). The 5 km² lagoon has no pass; it exchanges water with the ocean only through hoas (shallow reef channels), and there are submerged reef openings on the south side (French Wikipedia). Visited occasionally by copra cutters from Hikueru. No anchorage, no landing for yachts: a hazard to avoid on the route between Makemo and Hikueru. Part of Hikueru commune.
