Playa Bonita Anchorage (Catuano west)

18° 11.0′ N · 68° 47.3′ W · approximate

Off Saona's west coast, south of the Catuano naval post, a sand beach between Punta Gorda and Punta Delfín gives the same trade-wind lee as Catuano with more room.

Practical

Position approx: offshore of Playa Bonita (GeoNames beach 18.18983, -68.78217), between Punta Gorda (18.18885, -68.78344) and Dolphin Point/Punta Delfín (18.17317, -68.78524); pin placed about 0.4 nm WSW of the beach to keep it in open water. The Virgintino guide describes the NW corner around Catuano as well protected from the trades by the island and from swell by the channel, with 12 ft within 200 yards of the beach; expect similar depths here but sound in. No facilities. Present your despacho to the Navy at Catuano. Fishermen sell fish and lobster alongside.
